Some information to help the client prepare for their massage

Massage Etiquette


In order to provide you with a relaxing and therapeutic massage, please consider the following when preparing for your massage… 


Please arrive for your appointment at least 5 minutes in advance to allow you enough time to get ready.


While a shower before your massage is ideal for hygienic purposes, it is not a requirement. A shower just before your massage helps to begin the process of relaxation, cleanses the body of any oils that could clog pores and prepares the shin to absorb the lotions of the massage.



Undress completely unless you prefer, undergarments may be kept on. The massage therapists will always keep you draped for modesty and warmth, and only expose the area being worked on. Please remove all jewellery.


Your massage will take place on a comfortably padded massage table. There is a variety of relaxing music softly playing in the background and the lights are dimmed for your comfort.


Before your first massage, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire highlighting you areas of tension and any possible contraindications for certain techniques/oils. Let your massage therapist know what areas you want her/him to concentrate on or avoid, if any. Please provide the therapist with feedback about the music, room temperature or level of pressure being applied. You may talk or remain silent during the treatment: the therapist will follow your lead.


Before your session you should only drink moderate amounts of water so that you can be comfortable while in session with no immediate need to go to the restroom. Because toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, drink plenty of water afterwards.




Close your eyes and allow your mind and body to unwind. Breathe deeply and let all tensions slip away with each breath. Remember, this time is for you.


Just as with other businesses in the service industry, a tip is customary, but not required for clients to leave tips. Generally speaking, clients leave between 12‐20% of the value of the service when satisfied.



To book your next massage, we recommend that you call at least a day in advance, However, you can call the same day. Please be advised that there is a 24‐hour cancellation policy.


If you are covered by a private health insurance plan, often massage is a refundable benefit. Please ask your insurance provider about the details of your plan.
